  • Arrive: the ferry from Kyllini docks right in town.

  • Move: the island's KTEL buses start here for Laganas, Argassi, Kalamaki and the airport.

  • Go out: Club Barrage is about 1.7 km by road from the ferry terminal, with Gatsby on the same road.

  • Pause: an evening on Solomos Square or up at Bochali before the night.

Zakynthos Town, which everyone calls Zante Town, is the island's capital and its front door. Ferries arrive at its port and the island's bus company has its base here. It is also a lovely place for an early evening before a night in Argassi or Laganas.

Arriving through Zante Town

Ferries moored in the harbour of Zante Town

If you come by sea, Zante Town is where you land: ferries cross from Kyllini, on the Peloponnese coast, to the port in the heart of town. If you fly in, the airport is a short ride away and the town is where the island's buses start. Either way, Zante Town is the hub that connects the resorts, so it helps to know your way around it on the first day.

The town's buses

KTEL Zakynthos, the island's bus company, is based in town on Iatrou Mothonaiou street and runs the local lines to Laganas, Argassi, Kalamaki and the airport, among others. Timetables change with the season and are published on its official website, so check the one in force for your dates. Buses are your daytime connection; for the night, the getting around guide explains how to plan your ride.

Boat day: the pirate ship

In summer 2026 the Italian boat party sailed on a pirate ship on Fridays and Saturdays, with a photo stop at Navagio and a swim at the Blue Caves. The official ticket page gives the boarding point and time, and in 2026 the time was confirmed on arrival, so check both before you plan the day. Back on land, Club Barrage is about 1.7 km by road from the ferry terminal, and on Fridays Elegant Party opened there at midnight.

An evening in town before heading out

Zante Town is the elegant side of the island. On Solomos Square, by the waterfront, stands the statue of Greece's national poet, Dionysios Solomos, and the museum dedicated to him is on Saint Mark's Square nearby. For the view, head up to Bochali, where the Venetian castle overlooks the town and the Ionian Sea. It makes a perfect first stop on the nights you are heading to Argassi.
